A litle more information on this design. Olkhovsky utilised the Salmson powerplant, from one of his license-built Voisins. Although the aircraft used much of the same structure as the Voisin, it differed in its use of box-shaped narrow free-carrying beams that connected the tailplane. These beams were made of 2.5 mm plywood. Although there was a gain in weight compared to the usual Voisin layout of around 10 kg, due to the more streamlined construction it was estimated by Olkhovsky that the speed should have increased by 15 km/h. However due to the changing political situation, the construction of the Olkhovsky biplane was not completed. All info M.Maslov - Russian Aircraft 1914 to 1917 and V.Shavrov - The History of Aircraft designs in the USSR until 1938.
