NTRS troubles?

Francesco, you should write again... :/

I'm guessing that anything that smells like missile technology got purged to be on the safe side, "safe" being defined here as "won't get us in any more trouble".

A significant number of the NACA reports can be found on the Cranfield mirror. While it only has ~7600, that's a darn sight better than the 1000 currently up on the NASA page.

Just did a search for the reports on the Solar Hot water systems NASA had IBM design during the Energy Crisis. NADA.

For a sample of the 'Top Secret' information currently offline because of 'security concerns' see the attached.

"Dynasoar" stuff seems missing too, links seem to be down (404-Not Found) and a search turns up nada... :(

OMG, they have removed zillion F-1, Apollo and Saturn V files
what a rich food for barking that idiot gave to Moon hoax nerds
what woodwork did this Leslie Nielsen come out of?

What a progress,

when the whole world open its old files of aviation,we find the biggest institute
in the world,reduce its reports,instead off increase,that's a disaster,they go back
50 years,I want to see that genius who decided this,to say to him wake up.

Another take. First everything is still available in the NA&SD, so NOTHING has been "lost". Consider if every document has to be re-vetted given marching orders, then maybe what we have is what has been re-vetted to date? Isn't it better the archive is back up and docs get added as they are re-vetted? Or would you rather wait until the whole collection is re-vetted?

Given the situation isn't it better for them to make lemonade? Just a thought.

FWIW, today I got a reply from Sen. Wolf

You'd think a Senator Wolf would sign his name with a "W" rather than a "8".

A careful reading of DSM-IV would suggest excessively bold signatures are attributes of narcissistic or antisocial personality disorders.

Also for the record, and not that it makes an operational difference for the issue at hand, but Wolf is a member of the House of Representatives, not a Senator.

That's nice letter and I appreciate their point,

but can I ask, after about nearly twenty years;NASA discovers that there is many
un-friendly countries now !!,of course during this period they got every report
available in its website, and no need to close all old released files, but you should
be careful with new one,I mean, when you offer a new reports, pick up seriously,
and keep on the sensitive materials.

that's not 8, but infinity sign, showing how much time will pass before NTRS will return all the removed papers online

1930s wooden flying boat - now ITAR controlled
N+2 N+3 NRA studies from 2012-2013 by guys from Skunk Works and Phantom Works are OK
well, well, I beginning to understand a system

Hmm, well I hate to complain, but...
Let's that that interesting document on the GD Triamese space shuttle concept of 1968.
Before the NTRS shutdown it could be find there

TRIAMESE REUSABLE LAUNCH VEHICLE/SPACECRAFT - May 7, 1969
http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/19770081912_1977081912.pdf
now the link is dead, and searching back on the "new" NTRS brings no result. So where is it ?

Same thing for the "lunar space shuttle" study of 1991. Can't find it...

They still have a backlog of

248,000 documents, largely consisting of older documents

The newer stuff has been properly reviewed for release, some historic material might not have been.

We certainly don't want Iran to be able to build 1930s era wooden flying boats, it would represent a clear threat to US interests.

too late! ;D

(ok, they're not really flying boats, but close 'nuff)

So bye-bye every manned reusable system study that WAS NOT. Triamese, IGLV, DynaSoar. All gone.

I do have a handful of Dyna-Soar related PDF files saved onto my HD I think.

(scratching my head)

Where did you found that entry, and what does it mean ?
Will the Triamese document returns someday, perhaps among one of the 248000 documents in the backlog Overscan mentionned ?
Btw, if someone has that very document (from before the NTRS shutdown) please let me know...

That mean that DSE is cleared to use NA&SD
Join NASA and you will also be)))

Tweet from NASA STI:

After Sept 6, 2013 reload of 138K documents, #ntrs is now at 75% of total full-text prior to going off-line in March.

I do hope NASA kidnapped Senator Wolf, locked him into an old room with a bowl of soup every week and an old Intel 386 and a 28 kb connection. Then they forced him to download all the 500,000 documents one by one. ;D

Anyone else noticing a bit of a trend where the more "popular" pdfs instead of being downloadable now tell you to go to "tip on ordering"?

Randy

I can't even get that far. The old ntrs.nasa.gov URL sends me to a text-only version of the page with a non-functioning search engine. I have tried searching for something like the old NTRS but that's the only thing i found. Can you guys access a fully functioning search page?

I have no problem getting to the search page, from Windows and most browsers, Mac OS and Chrome, and iOS and Safari.

STI tweeted today that uploads have been halted due to system upgrades and will resume in mid-November.

It would be prudent to grab anything you think you may need or want in the near future given the stalemate in Washington, DC.

Looks dead at the moment. Getting "server stopped responding" errors.
