I always wanted to see Devil's Tower up close. The closest I've ever come was seeing the "mothership" model at Udvar-Hazy three years ago. Thanks for posting the photos.
 
For anyone contemplating making a model of this: Remember that, for that realistic look, it should be made in mashed potatoes, not resin ;)

My question is where is the large valley at the base where the landing strip in the movie was sited?

My next question is when you visited, did you see any mutilated or dead cattle?
 
Well if I get zero points there isn't much of a point in catching it do I? :p

But seriously, that sure is one hell (BOO! NO PUNS!) of a monument.
 
If you go through Weber Canyon on the way back you could shoot Devil's Slide as well. :D
