Seems fictional to me (happy to be proven wrong in this regard though) with elements of a Spitfire, P-39 and maybe even Bell XP-77 and Mitsubishi J2M thrown in for good measure.

Which probably puts it in the category of 'real, but amateur'.
 
Hiko Shonen(飛行少年) was a wartime children's magazine. This was a book from a group called the Great Japan Flight Association(大日本飛行協会), and it seems to be mainly written content that raises young people to be airmen.
