Hello!

I need information and plans on Arado Ar-532 / Ar-632 / E.441 projects, which where to be enlarged, six-engined versions of Ar-232 "Millipede", with about double the wing span of ~50 m and additional 30 small wheels.

I am also interested in flying boat project of Ar-232 that I seen somewhere I can not remember.

Thanks!

Information on the Ar 532 and Ar 632 from Heinz J. Nowarra's Die Deutsche Luftrüstung 1933-1945 - Vol.1 (Bernard & Graefe, 1993):

Ar 532
Four-engined transport aircraft project with approximately 30-ton payload. Four BMW 801 engines were planned. Nothing else is known.

Ar 632
Alternate four-engined transport aircraft project with a payload superior to 30 tons. Also four BMW 801 engines. Nothing else is known.

Dear toura, Stargazer2006 and Justo Miranda!

Thank you very much for your responses! I am really impressed with your quite informative answers. Overall impression is that sources I used before are only speculative regarding further development of Ar-232 project.

I also performed some search. I found the following project list: http://www.luft46.com/pjtlstar.html

Looks like float-plane version of Ar-232A (illustration of which was provided by toura) is mentioned there as E.401 "Ar-232 float version project".

Ar-532 and Ar-632 are possibly E.532 "Transport project" and E.632 "Transport project" in the same list. No technical details are provided. I am probably messing with combined RLM and internal Arado project numbering systems that look likely. From description provided for Ar-532 and Ar-632 by Stargazer2006 it is clear that 30 t is not a payload, but rather an allowed weight on takeoff (thanks for original text!!!) which is confirmed by information provided by Justo Miranda.

My calculations show that it is quite feasible to use 4xBMW-801A (4x1600 hp=6400 hp) to lift 30 t aircraft at takeoff with wingspan of 45 m and wing area of 220 m^2. Though using 4xBMW-801F engines (about 2400 hp vs. only 1600 hp for BMW-801A in Ar-232A) it is possible to lift 30 t of payload. Resulting takeoff weight of aircraft in this case is something like 75 t which is comparable to Me-232Z! Power is equivalent to 6xBMW-801A which possibly caused many sources to speculate about 6 engines.

Again, from my calculations 4xBMW-801A (6400 hp resulting power) could be replaced by 6xBMW-Bramo (7200 hp resulting power) increasing wingspan to 50 m and wing area to 250 m^2. This is another possibility for speculation about 6 engines.

E.441 "Transport project" is also mentioned in the project list that I found but no details were given.

Thanks!

Sorry about the payload/gross weight confusion. My German is a little rusty!!! :-[

I noticed that both editions of the book German Aircraft of the Second World War list the Ar 532 and Ar 632 as derivatives of the Ar 432 without comment. The book Arado Flugzeugwerke: Aircraft and Development History says that the E.441 had an all-up weight of 130 metric tons, or 286,520 lb (130,000 kg). Are there any extant project documents for the E.441 design?
