This was not a project for a real, flying, USB Jet Aero Commander, rather it was a full-scale NASA research model for USB (upper-surface blowing) using a real jet engine exhausting over real aircraft structures to test out acoustic noise and other potential issues for the USB configuration.

And after these extensive researches now we have a great set of USB-devices for the computers and smartphones!
Sorry for off-topic, the USB abbreviation is so common today for anything, except aviation...

On serious note, I think, that YC-14 has been the cause of this researches. At least by it's overall configuration.
