The main undercarriage (post 14) points to it being a bad take on an SR.71

It would make sense to use existing, proven systems on such a machine and when it comes to high-speed aircraft, you need to be able to stop. So re-use of the SR-71's undercarriage, or components of it would be understandable.

Bob225 - I agree with your sentiment on these multi-post threads (TL;DR) but I think I mentioned on another thread that we had our stab at all this speculation in the 1990s (I assume you were around then), so why not let the new 6th generation black aircraft chasers have their AI/not AI fun?

When we see the real aircraft I'll get excited. Until then it's just a slideshow image that could be anything of any origin.

If memory serves, the head of Lockheed ADP made a statement last year to the effect of “Skunkworks is doubling down on our commitment to speed”. Something to that effect.

They were very open about their hypersonic research until Putin started discussing Russia’s “hypersonic missiles”. As soon as he started mentioning those, Lockheed scrubbed its site of any mention of the project they had been talking about openly for some time.

Then they teased everyone with the dark render of some wicked ass looking SOMETHING that, if one cared to play with the contrast on the image, clearly said “SR72” on the side. Lockheed had also been losing a lot of money to something that wasn’t NGAD or F/A-XX, and a lot of people who really might know were saying it was this SR-72. There were little rumblings hither and yon about a sub-scale demonstrator that had been sighted around Palmdale and maybe Nellis. Who knows?

I can’t help but wonder if, perhaps, NASA has been a partner in this whatever it is that Lockheed ADP has been working on for so long. If so…hell yeah!

I quite like the idea of NASA getting back into being a bigger parter in aeronautics research and development with ALL of the big industry partners. For someone like me who grew up right down the road from Cape Canaveral, seeing NASA back in the fold as a serious home base for TERRESTRIAL (okay…aeronautical) research would be very welcome.

I think NASA work more closely with SPACE FORCE than ever.

Patrick SFB is maybe a 30 minute drive from the Launch Complex at Cape Canaveral. They are practically next door to one another.
