Yes, why not? RAM missiles from RIM-116B onwards have a Helicopter, Air and Surface mode for use against said targets.

How do you warn someone away with a missile?

Mk-38s might be good to warn someone away but I damn sure wouldn't want to bank on them to hit a speedboat coming in.

You warn them with the Mk 38, and if they don't comply, blow them out of the water with the missile, or turn them into ground beef with the air bursting 30mm, or a combination of both.

Or, y know, the 5" gun. Or the missiles or door gun from the helicopter. Or just give the ship a Javelin CLU or two.

I know subs and LCS would like Javelin CLUs and a handful of tubes. Though it would also need a new (and large) weapons locker installed.

Blohm + Voss took the Meko 360 and evolved it to A300. One attribute that stands out is replacing quadrant mounted guns with distributed lasers and microwave emitters. I am surprised by that considering on the 360 all four corner mounts were twin Bofors 40 mm/70 cal. The lasers are significantly smaller than those proposed for USN ships. They did retain rear corner gun mounts for either 35 mm or 40 mm options. The front and back have places for VSHORAD which appears to mean SeaRAM. And then there are 32 Mk41 cells in front and an ambiguous 36 VLS cells high up in a central deck. That is a lot of CIWS on a design centered around exports

So…you empty your limited magazine space to deal with drones that guns can shoot down much cheaper, and leave yourself empty and unable to respond to missile attacks that those same guns would struggle to deal with at best, and be completely outclassed by at worst?

120 Hero 120. Thats 120 ATGMs at best (just a bit more range) which at best is gonna mission kill the ship and if where at it the current Rheinmetall loitering munitions + truck combo can hold 18 drones.

edit: Per Google the shipyard is a part of Rheinmetall now. Quote: "Blohm+Voss is owned by the German technology and defense group Rheinmetall, which acquired the shipyard as part of its takeover of Naval Vessels Lürssen (NVL) on March 1, 2026." MEKO was designed by Blohm+Voss, so whether Rheinmetall or TKMS builds, it was still the Blohm+Voss design.

Apparently, the Mk3 has a magazine with 280 rounds now. But I agree they should have given it at least the same amount as the Gepard with 320 rounds. In the end what matters is number of stored kills.
The math for this gun with AHEAD ammo seems to be 5 shots for a tight swarm, 10 shots for aircraft and a max 26 round burst for the tough ones. They originally claimed 10-20 stored kills which tracks.

Phalanx with 1500 rounds also claims 20 stored kills which doesn't track with records. I'm guessing this is for aircraft and not missiles.

In today's environment 30-40 kills would be best. Also dual feed should be standard. This would allow one magazine to be loaded while the 2nd one is being used. Regardless, loading tools must make reloading within 5-10 min possible these days.

I found Gokdeniz has a below deck magazine with significantly more capacity than other 35mm (can't find an actual number). The dual feed system can switch between different ammunition types, so might not be just 1 feed per gun, being a double barrel system. Doesn't look like theres any above deck option for installing above a hangar or adapting other deck spaces.
