The planned Malta class carrier has been available for some years in 1/1200 scale from the UK manufacturer Mountford. They even throw in a TSR2 to the same scale.
I found another model online of her sistership New Zealand after an Ark Royal style conversion. It was scratchbuilt by the late Ron Hughes.
Our very own Hood drew his own interpretation of a Malta class conversion on Shipbucket.
After treating myself to HMS Vanguard as she might have looked in 1962 as a guided weapons ship I am going to ask the same modelmaket to work his magic with Malta.
But I am not sure which converted version to adopt. The New Zealand would look right with Ark's 1970 airgroup. Hood's Gibraltar would look right for 1962 though maybe with only one Type 984.
Thoughts welcome as ever.
