I have a question for all the aviation history experts out there, one that I have been unable to solve:

The Soviet Union had the Tupolev ANT-25 "Stanlinksy Marshut" flying from Moscow on the North Pole to Washington State.
The Japanese had the Gasuden Koken.

Why didn't the United States have a similar aircraft and similar long-range goals?

A possible reason could be they prefered modify an aircraft for special long-range goals instead specialized aircraft if we exclude the second post war ( 1945- today).

Exactly. For example, a modified P2V Neptune flew from Australia to the eastern US non-stop in 1946.
