The 81st production P-80A-1-LO (44-85200) was used to create the one off experimental XP-80B. After its flight test phase was over it was parked. When the USAAF wanted to make an assault on the world speed record it decided to use the XP-80B for that purpose. After it was modified it was redesignated P-80R and dubbed "Racey." In any event I've never seen a photo of the XP-80B in its original livery. Have any of you seen one? Here's hoping... -SP

Here's an amazing Giuseppe De Chiara three-view of the P-80R as it appeared in June 1947. -SP

With a little research and counting I've discovered that the XP-80B-cum-P-80R was created from the 81st production P-80A-1-LO not the ninth production P-80A-1-LO as previously stated. I corrected this error n my original post. -SP
