Some like me have messy health and simply do not have the energy to expend on social media and/or pop culture.
I also don't have a mobile phone and the last time I lived in a home which had a television in it was 2008.

This very discussion highlights the core differences between us older members and the younger generation that joined the forum over the past few years. We come from a time when having the latest technology was a bonus, not a requirement; also we have reached an age when we are more impervious to the sirens of bling and novelty. We can live pretty well without all the latest stuff and do not consider ourselves impaired or deficient if we do not know who a young singer or influencer is.

It dawned on me that this was a 2005 report·····
It was reported that in 20 years (2025) Japan will establish a base on the moon, and in 10 years (2015), at the latest in 15 years (2020) the United States will land on the moon again and build a "multinational space station" on the moon, Russia's new lunar spacecraft will make its first test flight this summer (2005), and India's unmanned lunar spacecraft will be launched in 2008.
But it's 2025····· (20 years have passed)
It can only be said that the gravitational pull of reality is too heavy...

To be serious for a moment...when we were growing up, peer-pressure, cliques, etc. were bad enough.

Today, social media throws gasoline on the fire, what with camera-phones bringing the world of the paparazzi and the 24/7 news-cycle to bear on the situation.

The red light is always on...the mic is always hot, with even non-celebrities having to face the same scrutiny that movie stars faced with Hedda Hopper. All kids in school today...are child stars...whether they want to be or not.

I see now that indigenous people were right to fear cameras eating their souls.

Folks our age don't care what folks say in the ether. To youth, the Internet really is a part of them as cyber-cyborgs.

Do you mean warthunder? I just opened it for the first time as well, and I think it's actually a *really* good exoanthropological training site for a potential encounter with an alien civilization - what with entities discussing skin shares and such...
