A misinterpretation, those three jokes are the ONLY ones I've been able to find against the mainstream in twenty minutes of creative browsing.

Speaking of humor, I have a somewhat unusual request: I'm looking for a joke by the great Jean Barbaud that was published a long time ago in Le Fana, it was a drawing about a Zero mounted on a Ginga, a Japanese mechanic asked another about the strange machine and the other answered "Mistel".

Can you get me a copy for my collection?:)

Ha, TsrJoe was too fast! The important thing is you got your wish (plus it would have taken a looooong time browsing through all my Fanas!) Barbaud is a fantastic artist, and a pretty nice guy.

Barbaud is an excellent connoisseur of camouflages and in his drawings he always captures the exact tones and the correct markings. I remember another very good one from the Japanese series in which a geisha reproached her husband for spending too much time building a model of F-86 "Sable"

Expecially in the 1970s and 1980 commies supported this stuff, as it provided distraction from all the shitt that was happening. Including a lot of comedy movies. Of course in the 1950s it was different.

Look for cold war cartoons on the internet and you will see that most of them are against the West, they have a ministry just for that.

I'm not saying this just because my maternal grandfather was from Prague, but I found while visiting there in 1985 that the Czech had an incredible sense of humor, an untamed spirit and a strong resilience power that enabled them to withstand decades of political nonsense under the Soviet rule (of course, for many of them, drinking also helped some). On my second visit in 2001, I could already see a distinct change. Tougher people, more competitive... I guess the younger generations were so intent on moving away from the old ways that they cut themselves from tradition and from the mentality of their elders...

Speaking in historical, not ideological, terms, the first thing they control even before they come to power is the media. Then comes the physical elimination of the upper classes, of the intellectuals and the purges of civil servants, military and doctors. When a society allows terror to be installed by inaction, it is too late to use weapons.

There is a universal humor, a specific humor of each society and a false humor to educate the weakest elements of each society from childhood. I learned to differentiate them during the dictatorship, but sometimes the language barrier creates misunderstandings.

I was pointing out the tendency of old people to be horrified by what the youth are up to. I remember studying a text from 990ish AD Britain where a monk was lamenting the way society was going and how as we neared the end of the millennium young people no longer respected their elders and society was going to hell in a hand cart.
