Context matters.
a) It's a memorial to army that brought 40 years of communist dictatorship to that country, and
b) they do that repainting quite often. This is just the most famous variant.

Contra Shelley, 'Ozymandias' is very well remembered. It's a Hellenisation of 'Usimaatra', from the throne name of Usimaatra Setepenra Ramese Meryamun (spellings vary). Roughly, it means Strong in the establishment of order/balance/justice as Ra, Chosen of Ra, Son of Ra, Beloved of Amun, which is a bit of a mouthful, so we just call him Ramesses/Ramses II or Ramesses/Ramses the Great.

Pink tanks are common revisions of Soviet monuments in former Soviet or Warsaw Pact republics - and elsewhere too.

BTW Černý from time to time plays with tanks again. This one ended much worse... This was in 2018, on the same spot where Pinky stood originally.
21. srpna 2008, v den 40. výročí sovětské okupace, Černý růžový tank na Smíchov opět přivezl - tedy jen jeho zadní část. Celé dílo tak vypadalo, jako by se tank zahrabával do země (archivní snímek ze srpna 2008).

In the 1950s there was a lot of sympathy in the West for the resistance fighters, who did little damage to the German army, but provoked reprisals that were exploited by propaganda.

They began to accept that the combatants did not wear uniforms and now we suffer the consequences.

What *exactly* are the propaganda exploits you are referring to? As a history curious 1961 born German citizen, I'd *really* like to know.

Thank you for the clarification, Rhinocrates - would you recommend to watch that show for fun to a post WWII progressive German, because seriously we are running low on non-brainrotting online content to consume?
