Laird Centaur Half-track vehicle

The Laird Centaur vehicle, using the success of the land rover, began its hal-ftrack experience in 1977. The idea was attractive but short-lived without the expected objectives. The adventure ended in 1984 with 9 variants. The Centaur, proved to be very expensive for an insufficiently armored all-terrain vehicle. Could it be another example of military kit being developed without an official requirement/specification?

Starts me pondering other unspecified kit that did or did not enter service.

Laird (Angelsey) was the former Saunders Roe Beaumaris works, later taken over by Faun and moved up the road to Llangefni. Still going but now specialising in temporary road systems as Faun Trackway.
