That article mentioning installing fences brings to mind articles about people vandalizing fences so they can shortcut across tracks,
Since I don't have photographic memory of 20 years of article URLs, here are a few search finds,

“People just came along and cut out part of the fence. The opening is shaped like a “V”; it’s cut in the middle and pulled back on both sides,” said Bill Elzey, the neighbor who notified police that the child had been hit by a train where the trestle crosses the dry bed of Santiago Creek on Wednesday.

“There were between eight and 10 kids out there (Thursday) morning. They did a dance on the tracks for a photographer. They were showing off. Something has to be done; those tracks are attractive. They were to me when I was a kid.”

San Luis Obispo resident David DePaola is concerned by what he’s seeing and suspects students are using this route as a shortcut.

“Yeah, 20 of them kind of congregated and then they went through the hole in the fence and then they were going over the tracks with the Amtrak maybe sitting six feet behind them, stopped,” DePaola explained.

PACIFIC, Wash. -- A fortified fence meant to keep people off the railroad tracks in Pacific has been vandalized, allowing pedestrians to cross at one of the deadliest sections. There is concern now that someone may soon get hurt or even killed.

The afternoon southbound Amtrak came racing by a section of track crossing the White River in the south King County town of Pacific on Thursday. Moments later, high school student David Reyes emerged, having just crossed the tracks. Railroad officials say that's dangerous.

"Well, I waited for the train," Reyes said. "I'm sorry. I don't know what to say."

He shouldn't have been able to do that with high-security fences on both sides of the tracks topped by razor wire. But someone has cut a hole in the fence.

The old joke is that JB Hunt guys are called "steering wheel holders."

The doordasholes are the current menace...one of these idiots drove right on the tarmac in front of a plane mind you! That fool thought everything in an airport had to stop to wait on them.

They are the most entitled jerks around--thinking runways and truck-only lanes are their private parking lots---and that security guards are supposed to be their waiters.

Punk kids in warehouses call in food and tell the Uber eats types to leave the food at guard shacks--as if they were butlers.

Worst of all, management won't have the backs of the guards and fire them instead. The company siding with the client against the guard every bloody time.

A Reddit post had a doordasher bash a guard for not letting them by a gate. Had the guard done that and the ubereat guy been a burglar--he gets in trouble either way.

If I had my druthers, Doordashers who can't follow the simplest directions (park in the parking lot and walk it in!) need to be terminated with extreme prejudice... preferably via high by-pass turbofan...like the dope smoking fool in Montgomery Alabama who had repeatedly been warned to not walk in front of a jet engine....
