As with crabs, all converges on the burke architecture,I was kinda expecting a ship with SPY7 to look less like a Burke superstructure.
Designs also start to look similar due to RCS optimisation and sensible layout. As with crabs, all converges on the burke architecture,
Álvaro, Kongo/Atago/Maya, Sejong, hell even the superstructures of the Hobart DDG and Nansen FFG have the characteristic angling.
I suspect its due to it being particularly favorable for the phased array's coverage.
I think they've been using old prefecture names for their big ships.Any rumours on what the names could be? I think it would be quite... interesting if they go with Yamato and Musashi, but also quite fitting lol
...Most of those are Burke derivatives, so no wonder they look alike. As with crabs, all converges on the burke architecture,

The JMSDF has been using mountain names for their Aegis destroyers and province names for the helicopter destroyers/aircraft carriers. Under the current naming scheme, Yamato and Musashi would be used for aircraft carriers.I think they've been using old prefecture names for their big ships.
Which would put Musashi and Shinano in play, but not Yamato. Yamato is an old name for the entirety of Japan.
Also, using Yamato would be like USS United States, or the German cruiser Deutschland. That adds a whole lot of propaganda value to destroying the ship.
There is(or was) a Yamato Province, that was roughly equivalent with the current Nara Prefecture.I think they've been using old prefecture names for their big ships.

The Yamato era ended with the Meiji Restoration (marking the demise of Yamato and the advent of the Meiji-Choshu era); Japan's current government is the Meiji-Choshu government. There is(or was) a Yamato Province, that was roughly equivalent with the current Nara Prefecture.
Okay, I stand corrected. The JMSDF has been using mountain names for their Aegis destroyers and province names for the helicopter destroyers/aircraft carriers. Under the current naming scheme, Yamato and Musashi would be used for aircraft carriers.
A name of a ship says a lot about what the government building the ship thinks of it.What is it with the forum recently getting so hung up on irrelevant aspects as the naming of ships, missiles and aircraft?
There couldn't be anything less interesting about a given program or assembly as what the name will be.
I think there are some unpainted parts because the area around the radar requires special RAM paint to avoid interference. It isn't applied until after installation to avoid damaging the paint coat as its very expensive compared to regular ship paint which is also very expensive. It also might be left unpainted because there is still a lot of work for installing the radars and usually the construction crews will write instructions and notes on the actual structure. That superstructure is much darker than the hull. Just different coatings or is it composite?
CG-192 started construction on February 5th in Yokohama. I don't know how well the sight lines into the Isogo Plant are, but maybe we might start seeing pics of it's construction soon.
CG-192 will launch in FY26 and commission in FY272番艦は同工場で建造され、2027年度に進水し、2028年度末に海自へ引き渡される予定だ。一方、1番艦は2025年7月18日に三菱重工業長崎造船所(長崎市)で既に起工されており、2026年度に進水し、2027年度末の就役を目指して建造が進められている。
I'm pretty sure that the Japanese government would take umbrage at the USN forcibly seizing the two ASEVs.As an American, it's surreal to see a clean sheet aegis type ship goes from paper to construction in a finite number of years.
USN, you know how.... there's a way to get trump his "battleship" before his term ends like he wanted....
That's not what he was suggesting.I'm pretty sure that the Japanese government would take umbrage at the USN forcibly seizing the two ASEVs.
It's entirely impossible for the USN to deliver such a ship before the mid 2030s. Americans simply can't built surface combatants in reasonable timeframes and seemingly can't built any surface combatants that aren't Arleigh-Burkes.you know how.... there's a way to get trump his "battleship" before his term ends.
