Inventor of Gore-Tex passes away

I worked for Gore for a while - it was like working inside a Dilbert comic about a cult. He had some unusual ideas in the 90s about how to run a business - there were no employees - only associates, there were no bosses - everyone supposedly determined their own responsibilities, there were no job titles, there was no useful cost accounting (strictly back of the envelope), internal summaries of product benefits couldn't exceed 1 sentence. It's no wonder that in the late 90's, a period of enormous growth in telecom and related industries, Gore's Electronics Products Division was continuously shrinking. The division logo was actually based on a tortoise (because the tortoise is slower but overtakes the hare in the long run, only the long run never happened).
But he invented a useful material.
RIP
