Senate panel proposes $10 million boost for low-cost hypersonic target​

The Senate Armed Services Committee has proposed a $10 million hike to the Missile Defense Agency's fiscal year 2027 budget for "development of [a] full-scale, low-cost hypersonic vehicle target," a move that would accelerate efforts to field surrogates for the Chinese and Russian hypersonic missiles needed to test U.S. interceptors against. The add, included in the committee's mark of the FY-27 defense authorization bill, comes as MDA is already pursuing a new generation of hypersonic targets
