here is the Hindustan HF-73,an early design,with MBB and as strike fighter.

If I remember correctly, this was a K. Tank design
I remember to see a 3 view diagram in Flug revue ages ago. I have not seen this since then.

Yes. In that site, Deino mentions twin tails. And I remember that in Flug Revue drawing :eek: :eek:

Yes ... bit I think that the configuration shown in the FR is a very provisorial (?) drawing including a lot of guess-work !

Another PS .... these two wt-models are siad to be from the LCA (left ... at a time, when it was under study with BAe) and the HF-73 (right ... if this is an early or late configuration ... ???).

a very strange thing,that I read about this HF-73 project,it had a twin
fins and rudders,I can't realize how ?.

Actually I don't think that the HF-73 had two fins as all other side views do only show one. This two-fin mystery may be based on a drawing, the German Flug-Revue published at a very early stage of that project. ???

Hi dear Deino,

the source for my info is; Jane's All The World's Aircraft 1977-1978,
and there is anther mystery,the HF-25 was a single engined strike
fighter based on HF-24 !.

That picture is from page 23 of the Flug-Revue Issue November 1975.

Call for tenders from 1966 (Ground Attack Fighter, GAF)
of the Indian Air Force, with a twin-engine combat aircraft that carries a weapon load of 3600 kg over a distance
of 720 km is required
got new meaning.

In 1971, the ASA (Advanced
Strike Aircraft) renamed specification
to HAL, which in turn is Kurt Tank
switched on, who had by no means lost interest in his design
and now sign up for the program again
committed. Tank pushed for one
Cooperation between MBB and
HAL. In fact, a came about in 1972
MBB team led by
H.Autumn to Bangalore to do the installation
possibility of Rolls-Royce / Turbo
Union engine RB.199 34R (post
burner thrust 6810 kp), which is known
acting as a tornado engine to investigate.

The developed project HSS-73 (Hindustan: Supersonic; Strike) only possessed
still superficial resemblance to that
"Marut", that is, the plane that is called
HF-73 should go into production,
was a completely new design. Planning saw the construction of 6
Prototypes, a break cell and more
than 200 series aircraft before after
comprehensive studies a computational
Maximum speed of Mach 2 at 11,000 m and the initial climb rate at least 300 m / sec.
should be. With 2000 kg external loads
a range of 650 km was expected.

Ultimately, the program was abandoned for cost reasons. The HF-73 thus shared the fate of the

Interesting.!! When did they terminated this project?
 
Does anybody know anything further about the Advanced Strike Aircraft (ASA)?

From what I can make out it was a circa 1971-72 project for the 1980s as a long-range 2-seat aircraft to replace Canberra and act as a long-range fighter.
It seems that BAC were keen to partner and Rolls-Royce wanted to put RB.199s on it if the MRCA partners agreed.
I've seen vague mention of possible BAC and Dassault submissions in 1972. All this was tied up with the Mirage F1/Jaguar contest for orders at the same time - basically both companies thought whoever wins takes both prizes!
But then it seems in 1972 Kurt Tank and MBB waltz in and the HF-73 results.

Blackkite in post #21 posted a small image of an ASA design. Any ideas whose it is? HAL, BAC, Breguet, someone else?

This sounds like AFVG, except it was dead since five years, by 1972. Dassault however carried on a VG effort with the G, G4 and G8. The latter -01 and -02 prototypes flew in May 1971 and July 1972, respectively.

The Mirage G8-02 would foot that bill very well. It was essentially France very own Tornado ADV, with Mirage F1 avionics, radar and missile: the usual Cyrano / Matra 530 combination.
