Gil Gerard passes away

That is sad news but not unexpected given that he was 82 (He was born on January 23, 1943 according to his wikipedia profile). I got to meet him at the Auckland Armageddon Expo in 2008 (His co-star Erin Grey was there too) he was a chill guy and I learned a few things about the behind the scenes stuff in the production of Buck Rogers and the 25th Century.


I first saw him on TV in late 1979 when Buck Rogers and the 25th Century aired on TV (I loved the show but my favourite TV show was BSG), I bought a few years ago the Buck Rogers S1 DVD boxset.

It's revealed that Gil Gerard died from an unspecified rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Edit: Connie Selleca*, Gil Gerards ex-wife (They were married at the time he was in Buck Rogers and the 25th Century), has also paid tribute to him.

*She's probably best known for playing the female lead in the sci-fi show "The Greatest American Hero" and she was seriously hot in her prime.

RIP indeed. Funny what we remember about past events, they seem to sink into a murky cloud until a spark wakes them up. There was a robot, voiced initially by a gruff cigar smoking feller who acted in all sorts at the time (Hart to Hart for example). The program changed the voice actor and the upset was so severe they had to go back to the initial voice actor. I could look this up but prefer to go by memory at this stage.

Missed but never forgotten.
