This is Vespa 150 TAP (Troupes Aéro Portées) scooter.

Apparently seemed to be a stupid invention ,but mechanism was surely studied very well : this scooter was used in Algeria and Indochina !

yes, there were used during first Indochina war and later in Algerian War
so 800 TAP were deployed by the French Airborne Forces (Troupes aéroportées, short: TAP)

the Vespa 150 TAP was one of cheapest weaponsystem: only US$500. ;D
Ateliers de Construction de Motocycles et Automobiles (ACMA) build the Vespa under licence.
the scooter was modified to transport a M20 75 mm recoilless rifle,
NO they don't shoot the rifle from the Vespa, they pull of the scooter and mounted on a tripod.

the Troupes aéroportées parachute-dropped two 150 TAP and two-man team.
one Scooter has the M20 rifle, the second Scooter got the ammo (HEAT warheads)
