Foreign use of the AMX-10 RC

Seems the munitions are not NATO-compatible... and the French doesn't have a lot of stocks. Also the vehicles are a bit long on the tooth... still, better than nothing. Anything that can piss off Vlad the Impaler, is welcome.

Interesting. I wonder, if MPWS had gone forward, would the Marines have also pursued a recce vehicle like LAV-25? Or would the MPWS have eaten the LAv budget entirely?

There were a couple of APC/IFV versions of the AMX-10RC (with engine forward instead of rear) that could have worked nicely in some of the LAV roles. Imagine a mortar carrier with the Hispano-Suiza turreted 81mm mortar instead of the open-topped LAV-M.

Depends if the Army also adopts it ala XM1047 style for the Light Infantry Divisions to replace the Sheridan?

For the sake of curiosity I checked AMX-30 numbers on Wikipedia. Long story short: 3600 build, one-third to the French army (1200 something then) by 1989 and nowadays... ZERO left for Ukraine.
Zilch, nada, zippo. Seems they have all been scrapped and melted down.
So Ukraine will have to do with a few Caesars & older AUF-1 artillery plus AMX-10s. Because AMX-30s have been mostly erased from the face of Earth.
Oh well... better to scrounge not-french armored vehicles and artillery. Peace dividends have wiped clean any stock of french armored vehicles that are not AMX-10.

WOLVERINE - a three-nation program for the USA

Under the name WOLVERINE, Vought has offered the US Marine Corps a wheeled light armored vehicle to meet the MRWS (Mobile Protected Weapon Systems) program. In the event of an order, Vought would be the main contractor. The vehicle is supplied by the French state-owned company GIAT (AMX-10RC). Rheinmetall would supply the gun (an improved version of the weapon mounted on TAM) and the turret. Texas Instruments would supply the Fire Control System. Main contractor Vought would be responsible for systems integration and final assembly. The engine and gearbox would be supplied by an American company.

A hydropneumatic suspension system can compensate for vibrations from firing the 105 mm gun. This hydropneumatic suspension system also allows the hull to be raised during off-road travel and lowered on the battlefield to reduce overall height. An automatic loader is housed in the turret. The Fire Control System has a modular, day/night vision system based on [Texas Instruments'] Common Module concept.

Vought and GIAT are also studying further variants of the WOLVERINE to act as an armored personnel carrier, command vehicle, missile launch vehicle, recovery vehicle, and maintenance vehicle using the same hull, chassis and, transmission.
