Pilot ejects safely :) ... One F-22 less in the inventory :(

Could any of the preproduction development airframes be remanufactured into service airframes?

Another one bite the dust. The Air Force wallet aches a lot. Sure, with an overall batch of 187 aircraft, any airframe is precious.

... "two less"???

FWIW, F-22 losses per 100,000 flight hours are substantially lower than the F-15, for example. Dramatically lower than the F-16 over the type's lifetime.

I keep a running total since cancellation. Based on the proposal to ramp up to 40 airframes a year we’d be sitting with over 600 by my estimate.
