F-16 MATV Rare Footage

FYI, a post stall loop is not a hammerhead. A hammerhead is when you pull into the vertical and let it drop to almost zero airspeed, then kick the rudder hard over to rotate the nose 180 degrees. A cool video none the less.

Oh thanx Sundog. Post corrected accordingly.

PS:

I was searching for this clip for nearly 10 years  ;D

Put up requests at youtube and many fora including this one

Ended up e-mailing Lockheed-Martin too but not no avail! Finally managed to track it down.

Other rare footage even harder to find are of the F-15 S/TMD, ACTIVE. About 10 years ago I can remember Discovery wing aired some great footage. Can remember the F-15 ACTIVE nozzles 3D movement inflight....looked little like ones eye ball movement.....

So, is the 'hammerhead' like what the Raptor does? The Raptor Backflip?

A hammer head is a lateral turn. Imagine an axis perpendicular to the plane of the wing. The aircraft pulls up into a vertical stall and then at the last moment rotates 180 degrees about that axis.

How did they make the nozzles flex like that (the outer part)

They're not flexing. All the individual parts are moving in a coordinated manner so they just appear to be flexing.

this may give some idea http://www.google.com/patents?id=AwEmAAAAEBAJ&printsec=abstract&zoom=4&dq=Axisymmetric+Vectoring+Exhaust+Nozzle#PPA5,M1
