Synopsis: Exposes the worldwide operation of the Sino-Soviet espionage system and shows how Communist agents used any means to obtain vital information from military personnel. Reconstructs three actual cases to demonstrate various facets of espionage techniques. Explains how agents of different nationalities probe for vulnerable areas, such as loneliness, indebtedness, fast money, sex and the sporting life. Portrays the agent as he subtly approaches, ensnares and involves his victim until it is too late for the victim to retreat. Purpose: Information on communist espionage methods.

While the video comes across as cheesy paranoid propaganda today, the basic processes shown for suckering in dupes has a long and often successful history. Used to be a time when the FBI would jump up and down on people with access to sensitive or classified information who gambled or did drugs or otherwise did things that would make them vulnerable to blackmail.

Don't ask for a source here, but I remember hearing the spy/informant recruitment process described by the acronym "MICE":

Money: Pay someone to give you information
Ideology: Find someone who shares your political, religious, etc. beliefs, and ask them for information
Coercion: Blackmail/threaten someone to give you information
Ego: Flatter someone into giving you information
