Electric aircraft: a new partner and soon a new prototype for Eenuee

Present at the Paris Air Show from June 16th to 22nd, the Saint-Étienne-based company Eenuee is continuing the development of its 19-seat electric aircraft for short trips, at the price of a TGV ticket. The startup has just signed a new partnership.

Eenuee has already tested a 4-meter wingspan prototype of its future electric aircraft at Andrézieux-Bouthéon Airport and Saint-Galmier Airfield. For the next stage, the Saint-Étienne-based company is thinking twice as big. "We have proven the aerodynamic performance of our aircraft with our 1/7th proof of concept (POC), with a 4-meter wingspan. The next step is to move towards an 8-meter wingspan aircraft, which will allow us to get as close as possible to reality and a certifiable aircraft," explains Baptiste Guiliani, business developer at Eenuee.

This prototype aircraft is to be built by 2027, with a new partner from the Rhône-Alpes region, Duqueine Group, a composite materials specialist that works with Airbus. Eenuee's development is now undergoing a major financing phase. "Ideally, we're looking for €4 million, so we're currently discussing it with investment funds. We have the support of the BPI (Public Investment Bank), and we have Deeptech development assistance, which means €1.5 million in aid, provided we raise €2 million in seed funding," continues Baptiste Guiliani.

Hence the importance of being present at the Paris Air Show to convince potential investors. With arguments such as the versatility of the future electric aircraft: it will be able to land on an airfield runway, but also on grass and water, will have an initial range of 500 kilometers (about two hours), and will be much less polluting than a conventional aircraft. Eenuee's Deputy CEO, Benjamin Persiani, estimates that a passenger in his future aircraft will consume less than a driver of an electric car.The Saint-Étienne-based startup is planning its first flights for 2029 or 2030.​
