I am looking for some drawings or artists impressions of the Saturn Rocket. Before it officially became the Saturn 1, it was to have a Titan 2 missile (complete) as upper stages. If any of you know of locations I would be most grateful. It is a model project I am working on. A, what if, timeline.

hi Darklord

there were several proposal for that Saturn I
Saturn A-1 with Titan 1 and Centaur
Saturn I & II for Project Horizon

but none with Saturn I with complet Titan 2 as upper stage

Thank you, I have a little on Project Horizon. The pictures will augment what I have as well.

And the Saturn story;

Tripped across this model at the San Diego Air & Space Museum's (SDASM) Flickr photostream. It is a photo of a model, featuring the caption "Saturn Model - Saturn D." The little I have been able to find on the "Saturn D" is from the NASA Authorization for Fiscal Year 1967 Sentate hearing notes, in the context of Lunar Mission studies, Page 555:

Saturn C-2 Phase 1 Preliminary Design Report, includes the common-bulkhead 'single tank' version of the S-I stage. I would note that the vast majority of the vehicle properties included later in the report are based on the historic clustered first stage.
Interestingly, the common-bulkhead, single-tank version was still their recommendation for the C-2.

Although the report glosses over it, the conclusion that the proposed S-III stage was too big for a 3rd stage and too small for a 2nd stage on the C-3 is very interesting.
