So, while the 600hp Conqueror was widely used, Curtiss was never able to develop it the way the Air Corps wanted.
What if, like the UK, a 250 degree temp limit was agreed to and the engine development was accepted. What potential would it have? Would the Allison still happen?
 
I thought this would be about the V-1800..... ;)
 
I believe both were referred to as "Super"
 
One place where the US military, specifically the Automotive Powertrain offices of the US Army dropped the ball IMHO, is in trying to adapt existing yet obsolesent aviation engines such as the Conqueror for use in armored vehicles
