Now that the two Koreas have succeeded in getting their own satellites into orbit, Brazil is now the only country left in the world that has yet to launch a satellite into orbit despite several launch attempts. However, Cuba may beat Brazil in the Latin American space race by launching a satellite that can beam patriotic music back to earth. The first satellite that Cuba might attempt to launch would broadcast the patriotic hymns "Melody of Comrade Fidel Castro", "Melody of Comrade Raul Castro", and "Melody of Comrade Jose Marti", just as the North Korean satellite Kwangmyongsong-1 was designed to beam back propaganda songs praising the Kim dynasty and Dong Fang Hong 1 broadcast the song "The East is Red". Such a feat would give Cuba an opportunity to further reinforce its image as a 21st century country because the island nation has been engaged in free-market reforms since 2010 to shed off its old model of Soviet communism.

i like the Idea
suggestion:
the Cubans salvage the IRBM from Cuba crisis and develop a satellite launcher form it.
and build launch pad on cuba south coast in Pinar del rio area.

for more payload they cluster there satellite launcher with 7 first stage and several upper stage for manned or lunar mission

P.s. try also the Alternate History forum

There are no Soviet missiles from the Cuban missile crisis left on the island. There are unconfirmed reports of Scud missiles being shipped to Cuba in the early 1990s, so Cuba could develop a space launcher by bolting five Scuds to the first stage and equipping the third stage with two auxillary boosters supplied by an Armenian firm.

dam, Scuds are not good base for Rocket program :(
especially for Satellite and Manned Flight
that is hell of R&D to modified the Scud into larger launch rocket.

windtunnel models ,preproduction and first test... :D :D :D

Ohh, yes the best solid booster comes from Cuba...
index.php

...And of course, the CIA would have to hack into the satellite's onboard player so that when the inaugural broadcast occurs, all that's played back are the Greatest Hits of Desi Arnaz :)

I saw the title of this post and i thought i smoked one too many
But hey! Let's assume that need another cuban missile crisis.
