I just re-read the old Wings Of Fame write up on the Tradewind, I know all the puns about military intelligence etc, but to think they could taxi these up to a beach, unload and then back away.... and then make it twice as big !

some serious strength needed in that wing.... for flight and water landings.
 
Looking at the gun turrets firing in all directions, the picture probably
should show a kind of flying assault boat, capable of landing directly
in the face of the enemy. If realised, there probably would have been
no need, to fly the aircraft back ... ::)
The Tradewind may have been used just accidentally.
 
The article in Popular Mechanics of September 1949
is not about a 'Twin Tradewind' but concerns the test
of the Convair Tradewind flying models...

In the article is an impression ,with as much artistic freedom as on the cover.
The concept is captioned as a future flying landingship with a load
of 250tons. The artist was perhaps inspired by the shape of the Tradewind...
