Months old news and it's misleading. The energy saving is on production not the "chip". It's good news nonetheless and good for ordinary "low level" electronics that's still lagging behind top of the line CPUs etc.

Now that "ordinary" semiconductors are at 2nm in order to actually replace it this technology needs to progress to 0.7 nm and get to production test runs within a decade and still be more cost effective . Remember the standard technollogy also makes progress. It's a tough race. The same requirement goes for any other alternative production method and or material mix. New tech has to be always generations ahead to replace the old. It's pretty much a universal economic law. It's why "ordinary" semiconductor has been hard to replace for so long.
