Constantin Chilowsky a French scientist, in the field of underwater acoustics and TV imaging, thermo-propulsion and aerial torpedoes. To this end, he filed several patents, including the patent of 18 October 1939 relating to Improvements to diffuser thermal thrusters and the patent of 02 November 1939 on guided aerial torpedoes. The author presents 09 configurations of the torpedo (07 with thermal thrusters and 02 with a solid rocket) with two guidance options (wireless and wire guidance). Different configurations of the guided torpedo have been proposed : 1-Torpedo with two thermal thrusters.(fig 1)
2-Torpedo with one thermal thruster above the torpedo. (fig 3)
3-Torpedo with one thermal thruster (a variant of fig 3). (fig 5)
4-Torpedo with a thermal thruster arranged axially to the torpedo around the central part. (fig 6)
5-Torpedo with a thermal thruster arranged inside the torpedo. (fig 8)
6-Torpedo with a thermal thruster in front of the body of the torpedo. (fig 9) 7-Torpedo propelled by a solid powder fuse placed at the rear in the extension of the axis.( fig 10)
8- Torpedo propelled by a solid powder fuse arranged above the torpedo body. (fig 11)
9- Torpedo where the thermal thrusters are at the same time the wings of the torpedo. (fig 12)
The torpedo is launched from an aircraft against ground targets or against an enemy aircraft as a wire-guided AAM missile with optical and acoustic targeting. The aircraft could release the torpedo from an altitude of 3,000 metres above the ground. As an example, the torpedo could be dropped 15 kilometres behind the front line to strike a target 30 kilometres behind the front line, travelling a total of 45 kilometres at a speed of 300 m/sec in two and a half minutes, during which time the aircraft would have travelled only 15 kilometres away from the enemy front line.(Translated with DeepL)
