Seems sensible enough a choice although I'd imagine for logistical reasons it would make sense for German SF to also buy the HK433 in 5.56mm.

Of course then you could argue it would make sense for the entire Bundeswehr to reequip with the HK433. The HK416 isn't a bad gun by any means but if the HK433 offers enough improvement for German SF to select it instead I imagine some of those same improvements would apply to the regular infantry.

I really dont understand why they are getting them in a light tan color unless they are expecting to be fighting in a desert in the near future. I'm not really sure why they went with the G95/HK416 over the HK433 either.

Dear @Colonial-Marine, I found the YouTube video very helpful; it suggests that a mix of light tan and light green is ideal for all environments, desert or woodlands.
Grey or darker colors would likely be more noticeable.
The G95A1 and G95KA1 is the new service rifle for the regular Bundeswehr.
But the German special forces KSK/KSM will also use the HK433 or HK437 aka G39 in calbrie .300 Blackout. This rifle G39 can also fire subsonic ammunition.

Speaking from experience, a brown or tan color works okay even in temperate or wooded environments, since closer to the ground, you generally see more browns than greens. Of course in some environments you have greens even close to ground, but that's what rattlecan is for (if permitted). Camo Form tape is another alternative.

Regardless, it's far better than black, which is a very uncommon natural color.

Most already answered above. Bundeswehr camouflage patterns are also still use the Coyote brown/tan that was all the rage 15 years ago. Similarily, the Canadian Modular Assault Rifle has Coyote furniture which is a better match for the beige and chocolate tones of the newer CADPAT (MT) MCU.
