Back in the 1960s a company called Palitoy introduced the American GI Joe figure to the UK market as a toy soldier called Action.Man. Generations of schoolboys have played with them and adults collect detailed versions made specially for enthusiasts.
The British Toy industry still existed in the 1960s and tried for a few years to sell its own version with the rather less catchy name of Tommy Gunn
