"There are only so many stealth configurations, convergent design is inevitable as constraints increase!"
Who would have thought the US would be using that line so soon, how the turn tables...
The US has often copied the work of others and there isn't anything wrong with that. The idea that America is somehow the home of innovation and never copied or stole from anyone else is a cold war invention which is finding renewed popularity since the early 2000s.

Funny that the Germans flew the YFQ-42 / XQ-58 configuration already 20y ago: EADS Barracuda
What do you mean by "configuration"? It has a wing, tail, dorsal intake for single engine, rear exhaust, and looks a bit stealthy. But there are many significant differences.

Its much closer to say that the likes of a Cessna 172 is a copy of a Bleriot IX.

"Aircraft configuration refers to the overall design and arrangement of an aircraft's components, including wings, fuselage, tail, engines, and landing gear." Ok, ok, they are not totally identical. Only single engine, top inlet, t-tail, stealthy shaped fuselage, similar wing sweep. But quite similar.

Where did the US use that line?

I was referencing how various people (especially the Chinese) say that kind of thing. My honest opinion is that the US has indeed been highly innovative in stealth designs, but that's mostly because of their initial lead. The only real requirement is effectiveness, all other sins can be forgiven (this applies to all countries). The design overlap is likely coincidental, though I expect GA engineers looked at a lot of stealth aircraft when designing proposals for the gambit series.

Not really, the Barracuda MGTOW is 7150 lbs. For reference MQ-20 MGTOW is 18,000 lbs and based on the publicity photo the FQ-42 is bigger than MQ-20. The resemblance is between FQ-42 and Barracuda is superficial at best.

Grid fins are a useful example.

Did CCP state sponsored hacking come away with massive amounts of data and plans from Western defense companies? It seems silly to say they didn’t, and it seems silly to say they didn’t massively benefit and it seems sillier to think that they “shouldn’t have” considering the circumstances is even sillier. Even sillier too is the idea that the US hasn’t or wouldn’t, if it could.

In fact, some of the original non agriculture enterprises in the colonies involved the theft of secrets and know-how in textiles production (I’m looking at you, Rhode Island). So industrial theft predated the signing of the Declaration of Independence by decades, in the lands that became the US.

That said, my favorite is when I see a photo of a Hawkeye contrasted with a photo of a certain non Western AWACS platform and I get to watch some very particular apologist tell me that they aren’t copies bc ones bigger than the other or has different fuselage or wing sparring or the outboard vertical stabilizers are different because they are flipped on the horizontal axis. It’s hard not to look at that plane, and then some of the truly original planforms emerging from Chinese aerospace companies and realize even if you’re right, you’re right about an issue that doesn’t matter at all anymore and is a weird, historic time vampire canard in a trench coat trying to pass off as a topic of relevance.

If this was a Chinese platform the similarities here is far more enough for certain people here to scream "oMg ChiNa cOpIed iT but yet since it's American it's all good with everyone defending it.

Well yeah, and 99% of the time they'd be completely justified in doing so. That's what China does. Everybody knows it. Sorry if that hurts your feelings. Maybe if China didn't copy or steal anything that wasn't nailed down they wouldn't have such a bad reputation.

No one denies China steals, it's just naive to think the US and other states do not engage in similar espionage programs. I'm just calling out the blatant double standards due to US influence on global media. Sorry if this hurts your feelings.

PS: Just because a country steals it doesn't mean they can't produce original stuff, and this applies to everyone.

Some people overestimate the role of hackers, in fact, the so-called "plagiarism" is a normal thing between the militaries of various countries, and imitation is the best flattery. In fact, on the issue of "plagiarism" of Chinese equipment, it is better to ask some of the most qualified members of this forum, such as Deino, who has been observing for almost 20 years (and maybe longer)
PS:I don't think DDGX copied 055, they just look a bit similar.
