I had put this up in the "Books" section thread on a book on this aircraft but perhaps these questions should also be posted up here.

Did the development of this aircraft go far enough for Deck-landing trials to be carried out? If so, then what were the results?

No. It was only tested ashore. Low speed handling was considered good and pilots thought there would be no reason why it would not have been entirely satisfactory operating from carriers. But the aircraft had various other problems, was over-weight, and the war was over. So the F8B was cancelled before much flying had been done.
