Hello to all, this is my first post. Thanks for a great forum! Does anybody have a Boeing model no., drawing or other info for this project, possibly named the Intercity Transport? The cockpit appears to be based on the 737 airliner. Thank you.

Boeing, along with a score of other companies (Lockheed, MDD, Rockwell to name a few) did extensive studies on contract with NASA for short haul VTOL transports for use in urban areas (the "corridors", as they were called), first around 1967 and then later in the 1972-1974 timeframe. The 1972-74 studies were done under the Model 984 series. I doubt nevertheless that the aircraft you posted comes from those studies (general configuration, apart the lift-in-wing, is the same of some Model 984 iterations), for the very good reason that the model is camouflaged....

Thanx Hesham... ;)
And, Circle-5, welcome to THE Forum...

I would place the design earlier than these studies, the fan-in-wing is more typical of early 1960s VTOL technology. Might be worth a trawl through NTRS reports.

Mmmmm. maybe, but the dorsal inlet has a late '70s look... The distributed fan concept with a centralized gas generator (feeded by the dorsal inlet) is from mid 60s at the earliest, AFAIK.

Thank you Hesham. So we now know this was a General Electric study from 1957-64, sponsored by the U.S. Army's TRECOM (Transportation Research Command). It appears that Paul Overscan was right about the timeline, as usual. If I remember correctly, the attached image came from a 1970 FAA brochure, posted on Scott Lowther's blog ...
