F-47 Golden Don.F-47A Trumper (Yea, I know.)
Personally I think F-26 would have been most appropriate and Voodoo II would be a good one.I for one hope that they would change the designation to something less stupid than F-47. Where they got that number, random number generator or it's just political? My pedantic soul cries for F-24/34 already... /rant over
Since it is meant as a succesor to F-22, the Raptor, a good name would be Predator. Too bad it's used for a drone. Nimrod would people not take seriously, but how about Venator? Sounds cool.
If the designation actually IS a homage to P-47, Thunderbolt III is an obvious choice.
But I am unfortunately expecting it to be the Golden Bolt
Felon is a NATO reporting name for SU-57 for soem time already.
Also. F-47 Felon... Somebody might take that personally.
That would have been really cool, naming jets after weapons of ye olden days opens up many great opportunities. Dagger, Halberd, Javelin, Gladius, Flamberge, Claymore...F-47 Longsword
FQ-44A Short Sword
B-21A Broadsword
Queue the Aston Martin lawsuitbut I like the sound of Vanquisher
I heard someone propose the name “Thunderstorm”.Thunderbolt III is an option, referring back to the -47 series number. (It's not used often, but the A-10 is officially the Thunderbolt II)
I kinda dig it.I heard someone propose the name “Thunderstorm”.
That actually works tolerably well...Dominator?
Warden? Dominator? Emperor?
It is partly an underhanded way of complaining about it being a NATO reporting name. To use a term which is only used by one country makes the alliance feel less like an alliance of equals.
Su-37 momentThe F-47 Terminator, it will be back.
VooDoo 2 is growing on me but probably not PC.Eh, Thunderbolt III, why not?
More PC than when the F101 Voodoo was in service!VooDoo 2 is growing on me but probably not PC.
If they’re finally fully committing to stealth, to the point of the design not having a cannon, then Phantom lll could be fitting…I could live with Phantom III.Eh, I think "VooDoo II" is starting to grow on me too.
Could we leave our personal politics somewhere else?
Or who knows, maybe they join GCAP? They have already shown some interest in joining.Though I'm not sure who all would be willing to buy any. Australia, if they can swing the payments?
Boeing Australia already has a potential CCA in the MQ 28 Ghost Bat.Or who knows, maybe they join GCAP? They have already shown some interest in joining.
That has a nice ring to it…F-47 Phoenix
