Screwing on an access panel, presumably. Not sure why it seemed noteworthy.

Could be a number of things. Probably a blind fastener of some sort.

Because there was something behind the panel that they needed to access. That's why they call them access panels.

Probably making the same thing as this guy with a measuring tape - imitating a wild activity for a video operator

It would be really hard to put Slammer inside if weapons bay are considered for production version though...
