Back in the 60's, 70's and 80's so much exploratory research was being done on "rocket science" (my synecdoche for every aspect of the technology from nozzles, casings, to propellant, to warheads) the rapid advances being made during that timeframe was incredible. It seems rocket science is less well funded today - I hope that is not the case - with the risk of losing American technological preeminence.

As I mentioned on another thread there is a book coming out July 8th entitled "US Nuclear Arsenal: A History of Weapons and Delivery Systems Since 1945".
