Sir,
I have just seen the first "Australia in two hours" story of 2012 in a UK newspaper. The story is an annual event that marks the start of the "Silly Season". Is an August 14th sighting a late one or was it delayed by the Olympics?

PS I only read the Mail because it's in the tea-shack and the alternative is The Sun.

BBC's take on this was to follow the 'waverider' with an animation of Reaction Engine's Skylon. At least their SABRE & derived engines can be 'run up' on the ground...

If I understand it correctly if the vehicle remains above 100,000ft not so much :)

Take off and landing might be a little "steep" though :)

Well, for the 2013 silly season the hacks appear to have forsaken scramjet stories and gone for this:

Silly season opens three months early. Papers obviously bored of Brexit.
