For a while now I've been thinking of getting to grips with CFD, but I'm wondering how people learn CFD if not through a degree course. Any advice?

If you have your basics in fluid flows, just grab a paper copy of Ansys Fluent manuals and go for It (you'll need a copy of the software too).

Aerodynamics need also some specifics. You'll find some good literature out there. No worries.

Then, if you want really master it, numerical math is a prerequisite. But don't worry, many professionals don't have it, or haven't gone through that seriously.

There is some news on that front:

Not a problem I was aware existed, but the result is going to upset some people.
