Thanks in advance

Many Thanks

On of them looks like the X-19 and another a modification of the C-133.

I have that issue. It's just pure specualtive futuristic artwork. The issue doesn't actually have anything on that, it was just a bit of Martin artistry showing the flight deck of some distant-future aircraft carrier.

Thank you very much sferrin and orionblamblam.

That "C-133" variant looks like a Myasishchev VM-T

*Air Progress : NX-2 cover.

Nothing about the concept inside the mag.

*Air Progress Spring 1962.

Cover is not reflecting inside contents.
but on page 40&41 : five Douglas VTOL concepts.
Scetches only , no further info about the designs themselves.

I have no scanner Boxkite , but watch
your (snail) mailbox this week..

On the other hand, let's spend our winter holidays in Belgium to check lark's archive - everybody comes with his own scanner (at the end one is for lark) ;D

Thanks Gent's.
It's just that I love the old fashioned way.
Pometabla. knows why ;)

Many thanks for the gesture Paul.

There's a note in your private e-mail...

Is the Boeing SST the answer to the AF's long-sought bomber to succeed its B-52?

Nice art :)

So what are they trying to say by having a Lockheed C-5 for the tanker? That the SST will be a gas guzzler and would NEED a C-5 for a tanker or that Boeing's KC-135 wouldn't be able to hack the job? ;)

What I have seen at Air Progress is that it was not a 100% rigorous mag. I don't know if ever existed a "KC-5" proposal. Anyone can confirm that event?. A C-5 unbuilt variants compilation sounds cool to start a new topic.

This last weekend, I bought an old "Air Progress" at a swap meet. It's the 1957/1958 edition. However, upon opening it, I now know why it was only a dollar. The pages were crumbling to the touch as I tried to read them. So I'm laminating the pages.

The crumbly pages were quite distressing. But I like looking through it. It's a relic from a long gone era and the artwork by Matt Jeffries is a special treat, especially the three-views. Some other treats include:

-art from Northrop for a delta-winged nuke job meant to tow airliners, designed by Lee Ohlinger.
-art of a wingless VTOL arliner from Lippisch called the "Aerodyne". It's basically just a fuselage with a Coleopter intake at the tail.
-an article and drawings of the Coleopter

According to my brother, I should have just left the magazine as-is and bagged it up, due to the age and any possible collectible status.

But I wonder if I'm doing the right thing with the laminating or should I have just bagged it after all? Too late now, I guess.

Maybe I should have asked around here for input first. What do think, guys?

BTW- I don't have working scanner for the time being. Otherwise I'd post the stuff I just mentioned. Sorry guys.

It's a pity you don't have an scan.

The scan is the right tool to preserve all that unvaluable jewels. There are really economical and easy to use scanners. You can preserve the original scanning at 300 dpi and printing a readable copy from it. I'm doing that with my old magazine collection.

Antonio

Ebay has a 1956-57 copy with a "buy it now" price of twelve bucks. So a copy that is literally falling apart is almost certainly not a big collectors item. Laminating, if done safely, will keep the issue alive long enough for you to eventually scan it. If it's already decaying, it's unlikely to ever be a real collectors item.

The SST: Here it comes, ready or not.
Traditionally new transport aircraft have been adapted from military versions for civilian use. But with the US/SST, a switch may give the USAF an Advanced Manned Strategic Aircraft (AMSA) based on a civilian expenditure of billions in research and development funds. Here, Air Force & Space Digest artist Gordon Phillips shows how military SST would look during midair re-fueling operation.

lol, a C-5A air tanker and a SST "bomber"; when Vietnam era dollars once flowed like water from the tap.
