Some scans of wrinkled prints in the US National archives, Douglas D558-2.
I know it does not have an X designation, hopefully it's use as a tester will
keep me from getting my fingers slapped. :)

Photos taken several years ago at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. The X-planes were in a hanger on the Air Base, and you had to schedule a 1 hour slot to be taken on base to see them. They were all jammed together in a hanger, but you could walk among them. We were asked to look but don't touch, so the closes I got to the X-15 was about 4 centimeters....

They are now in a new hanger in the Main Museum, but behind barriers.

Cutaway Northrop X-4 "Bantan" aerodynamic research aircraft 4th of the "X" series at the former NACA (today NASA), developed by the Northrop firm that had extensive experience in the construction of flying wings and tailless aircraft, from a distance it seems a cleaner evolution of the Messerschmitt Me-163 Komet, but powered by two small jets of only 700 kg of thrust.

Authored by Aviagraphica and now retouched by Motocar to replace areas lost during the scanning process.
