So apparently some rentseekers finally got their karma?

Badaboom jagga jagga!

I think it’s ironic that he’s talking about pay walling things because of plagiarism when that’s already happening because of his “business model” of… plagiarism and copyright abuse.

Parasite killing the host isn’t a workable strategy.

Crosslink.

Seeing the above news and this particular instance, there's a really serious discussion to be had about solidarity, knowledge and survival strategies (or more mundanely, living) in this day and age (and the future). I don't view blockchains as particularly rational nor sustainable but sort of wish credits and sourcing could be (at least somewhat) automated. I don't blog for a living but sometimes (often even) catch myself on the unoriginality of my (more or less confidently) expressed whatever, post fact.

So, in these non-formal environments I sometimes try to generally gesture towards my greater influences. I'm guessing most bloggers wouldn't risk much by doing this as most of their readers likely prefer the format they've sought out/being algorithmically provided with anyway and not something (i.e. rolling discussions and research on a message board) that actually expends more time, organization and cognitive resources

Well, there are fair-use laws for a reason: However, I suppose you could file a copyright claim if they went beyond fair-use. Personally, I prefer to frame things in my own way if possible (paraphrasing)

Hm, is that the predecessor to Base Delta Zero?
More restricted (in terms of destruction) tactical variant.

EDIT: Just double checked, the relevant code was actually Base Gamma One! Also come to think of it, it might have been more accurate to describe it as 'sub-strategic'.

You know, having some experience very with fair use and IP law, I can tell you that because they’re reselling copyrighted material for a profit there chances of avoiding a expensive litigation are about zero.

When they take a copyrighted photo from SPF and publish it as their own without attribution or consent, then profit from it… yeah, that’s not fair use. They’re not using it as satire, political commentary, etc. They’re making a buck by stealing.

In that twitter thread some twats are going in about how hard it is to “chase down stories’. Yeah dude for you “chasing down stories” is watching the SPF RSS feed. Hard f-ing work.
