I asked myself since a long time, what if a mashine could be made out of few molecules which buns single molecules or produces small currents by using tiny mono piezo chrystals powerd by the buns of singe molecules. In this dimension, the single buns would no longer be the integral of billions of buns, but single mechanical events. This might produce exergy out of anergy, or reduce the entropie of the universe. I would mean, that a Perpetum Mobile of the second order would work, or a mashine which produces work out of an even enviromental temperature. Some scientist claim that something at least very similar could work:

Well, checked it by using Bing to translate the text into German which worked flawlessly.

It might be a bit confusing about the train of thoughts, but has little to do with my limitations in writing English.
 
@Nicknick My initial thought was that 'bumb' equated to 'bond'.
If you meant 'bump' (as in Brownian motion?), the piece you linked to mainly refers to "quantum correlations. These are special bonds that form between particles on a very small scale".
I appreciate the link you provided, but your text was most confusing to me.

Bing apparently makes sense of imperfect spelling by providing a best guess. As a computer programmer, now retired, I learned to appreciate clear communication. Acting on best guesses was occasionally followed by a huge mess.

Yes, imagine you have 10000000000000 balls beeing kicked randomly angains a wall with the size of the Saarland (;)) and the result would a an even pressure. But when you have a bunch of kids kicking balls against a loose gate of a garage, the gate will start to move and energy could be generated.

I don't expect anything spectacular will happen because of it during my lifetime, but it gives many opportunities for science fiction...

However i have my doubt if energy or momentum is "Translatable" into our World scale
once here it's under second law of Thermodynamics !

but i could be wrong...

Or singe for that matter. I assume he means bumps and single but yeah its Not that clear
 
Here is a good rule of thumb:

If there is anything that might possibly violate our understandings on the laws of physics--it is likely only something tiny that is only good for computing and not transportation.

Atompunk/Rocketpunk had room size computers---but were Single Stage To Anywhere.

The Cyberpunk future is what we got instead---image manipulation and all kinds of things---and for now we are still stuck with capsules.
I'll take Rocky Jones over Neuromancer's world anytime.

Back on topic, at first glance we can 'square the circle' because at the quantum level what is described is not a heat engine. It works by extracting the difference in energy between atoms at the 'hot' and 'cold' sides. Working one atom at a time means that the temperature becomes somewhat meaningless seeing as it's a statistical measure of the energy of a lot of atoms.
Pretty cool science, if you'll forgive the pun!
 
At best I see this technology most applicable for surfaces and perhabs micro chips. But since it's just single atoms maybe more suitable for photonic and quantum chips.
I doubt there's any large scale "engine" sized use.
 
I break that principle every day simply by being alive (still).

Life goes in the opposite direction to thermodynamics because it evolves towards a greater order.

Including consciousness and intelligence.

Those theorists should go back to the steam engine.

It's still the original post, maybe I changed it within 3 min after posting (as I ususlly do) but I haven't edit anything after your posting.

"the bumbs of singe" is hardly clear, and I don't think spending 30 seconds right clicking the mispelled words and selecting the correct version is too onerous given you presumably want people to read and understand your post in order to respond.

Possibly the brain evolved to avoid extinction in an exotic way that animals did not. There are fascinating theories about the tricks he had to develop to do the job he does with just a few watts of power, oxygen, gelatin, and water. I think it works in multidimensional mode with a virtual time dilation trick, before delivering the results in real time, to prevent us from going crazy, because the rest of the senses have not evolved at the same speed. The artificial transformation of the environment to adapt it to our survival, instead of adapting our body to the environment is an unintended collateral consequence, as well as consciousness, memory, language, compassion, sense of humor, mathematics and music. Instead of giving up hands to transform them into wings, we use our hands to build airplanes. If dinosaurs had done the same, we would still be rats.
