I can confirm the manuscript is finished and handed over by Tony, and the layout process is happening. I had some minor input with a couple of chapters.

I admit to being puzzled by the title.
American Jet Fighters covers a pretty broad swathe of periods and aircraft even before including our unbuilt friends.
Is this going to be one of those books which just covers a few big name aircraft?

It is an updated and expanded version of American Secret Projects: Fighters & Interceptors 1945-1978. I think the first few chapters might be omitted as they were already updated and expanded in Early US Jet Fighters: Proposals, Projects and Prototypes.

Just to be clear as Vol4 bombers stopped in 1974 this will only go to 1978.

FYI, this book "American Secret Projects 5 - Fighters and Interceptors 1950 to 1980" is scheduled to be released on October 13th, 2025.
But I'll wait until I can order it from the Dutch aviation bookstore "Luchtvaart Hobby Shop" aka "Aviationmegastore".
Edit:
Amazon Germany states, that this book is now set to be released on Friday, November 14, 2025.
Despite the delay, I will order it anyway as a Christmas present from Aviationmegastore.

Well, the manuscript was submitted on time, to my knowledge, so the delay is presumably due to the publisher.
