I'm hoping for 4 MaRVs and 2.11m, 1.88m and 1.68m stage diameters. It's possible they tested such a MaRV recently with FT-3R.

Probably to do with the payload footprint and position relative to missile head diameter. The 3 MIRVs in MMIII are a tight squeeze I think, so the nosecone needs to go up more before coming across to meet the other side.one question, why LGM-35A Sentinel and Minuteman III seem to be pretty pointy looking compared to China ICBM like DF-4, DF-5 Or Russia ICBM like RS-28

Saying they are just like their 70-80s design is like saying my brand new 2025 Corvette is the same as an 80s corvette cause “hey they’re both corvettes”.
The W87-1 is a brand new weapon. Yes not a new design. A new design is not needed but comparing it to an original W-87 is just not an accurate representation. The fact that Russia China and even North Korea are building new ICBMs leaves me disheartened to say the least.
We should have reduced, yes obviously, after Cold War but never stopped modernizing. This stuff is too important.

Although I am a strong proponent of modernization of the ICBM force the fact that we, as a country, have said these weapons are extremely important and therefore we need to modernize and we seemingly can’t is very troubling notwithstanding any separate argument about efficacy and need.The decision to go ahead with GBSD was made under Obama, while the NGRV was under Biden. The core of the US nuclear forces is its SLBMs not its ICBMs (in reality its conventional over its nuclear forces). Every other nation in the meme depends on its ICBMs over its SLBMs and in the case of RUssia and NK they heavily depend on their nuclear forces for deterrence.
I will agree to extending MMIII if the new replacement is an MX sized or bigger missile carrying 10+ 1Mt warheads being shuttled around underground the new 10k miles of tunnels in New Mexico/Nevada made by Elon’s Boring Company.

The silos we can maybe make an argument about the USAF thinking they were in better material condition than they actually were, but there's zero excuse for not including the wiring.Not the point I’m making. IIRC, the usual was 10 silos per launch control center.I hope they decide to build 2 silos per launch site, we're going to need it.
