Until the Royal Navy shrank to a largely frigate force the Fleet Review was the main UK display of military force.
London sees regular ceremonial parades but it is not often that Army equipment rumbles through its streets. The RAF traditionally flies over on Royal Occasions.
Until 1989 West Berlin was the best place to see Chieftain tanks on parade.
Of the Western nations France has the most impressive annual display of its forces in Paris.
The US has up until now been less inclined to show off its forces.

Let the stupid do as they please and waste their money. Everything else is just hubris.
We are better off spending it on something else like aquiring more and better weapons.

Besides do you know how though it is being an operator having to pull 24h guard duty for some high value stuff; only to be pulled right after to join a parade because some top brass wanted to show off; and having to stand like 6 hours in the hot sun. And then having some regulars fall over and getting an earfull even though none of us failed. Spare us that shit.

I think post desert storm the US held a small parade in Washington, including F-117s and other stuff.

But generally the game of incredible parades and national pathos is something you find in the East these days. While western nations either lack the funds, will or sense of national unity to do something like this nowadays.

Ironically a bit more deterrence and show of force may have led to less conflict.

Just that most countries who appear weak are in fact weak and most countries who appear strong are in fact strong.

In fact, the original meaning of this sentence was to deceive opponents and lure them into being deceived. This is a common means in tactics, but a military parade is not the same as this.In fact, I personally believe that the military parade is the only opportunity for countries that are not fighting wars to demonstrate the development of armaments. If nothing else, the United States will also have a military parade in a few days, which is worth seeing.

Isn’t it the Army’s 250th birthday? A quarter of a millennia.

I’d say a parade was in order at minimum.
